Don’t Try this at Home…Try it at a Friend’s Home!
Posted by: kelgarneal | October 16, 2007 | 6 Comments |Hey all you Steve Spangler science geeks out there! I am so glad you are enjoying science this year. I love science and learn best hands on. I think that is the best part of science, getting messy!!! So, I know you have all tried some experiments at home. Let’s share the good, the bad, and the “It was so scary, I thought my mom was going to kill me” experiences with science at home. Remember, don’t try it at home, try it at a friend’s home.
The head mess maker,

Hey all you monkey lovers
Posted by: kelgarneal | September 29, 2007 | 2 Comments |Ok everyone. The moment has arrived to announce the winners of the Monkey Love blog. It was a hard decision this time, and I actually have a tie. The winners are…drum roll please…
CHEYANNA & JOCELYN!!!!!! Your responses made me laugh the most. Thanks to all of you, and a new “Can I Quote You” should be up soon. Next time, I will be looking at how you write your quotes and that you use correct punctuation. We will work on spelling at another time, but we need to get the punctuation within quotes taken care of.
My question to you, “Is it truly a quote if you do not punctuate it correctly? Think about it.”
Yours ’til next time,
Mrs. N :0)

So, let’s hear your quotes. Best quote wins a treasure chest for your team and a candy bar! Have fun monkeying around with this one:)

Total Eclipse of the Moon
Posted by: kelgarneal | August 26, 2007 | 3 Comments |Ok, so we were wrong about the Mars looking like another Moon, but I do have real evidence that a total lunar eclipse of the Moon will occur this Tuesday morning. The best time to view it is at 5:37 a.m. our time. I went to NASA’s site to confirm and found this diagram to share with you. So, have any of you seen an eclipse of the moon? As quoted by NASA, “During a total lunar eclipse, the Moon’s disk can take on a dramatically colorful appearance from bright orange to blood red to dark brown and (rarely) very dark gray.” The next total lunar eclipse will not occur until next February. So get up a little earlier Tuesday morning and check it out! Happy sky gazing! Mrs. N
Mars & the Moon Internet Legend
Posted by: kelgarneal | August 25, 2007 | 2 Comments |On Friday, an e-mail was sent out from one of our 6th grade teachers talking about Mars looking like the moon this Sunday night. I decided to go to NASA’s site to make sure the information was accurate before all of you decide to stay up late Sunday night. What I found out is this: It actually occurred on Aug. 27, 2003. So, this e-mail information about Mars has been going around the internet in e-mails for the last 4 years. It is now classified as an urban legend or a story that was maybe once true or partially true, but has now been told so many times or e-mailed so many times that people come to believe it. Guess it goes to show that we should not believe everything that is sent to us or posted on the internet. Do any of you know any good urban legends you want to share? I know cheyanna, Tanner, Kadie and I talked about them last year in class. I will try to get the urband legend book on Monday, and we can share some, and then, you can share your own here. So, parents, Mrs. Neal says to SEND THEM TO BED on Sunday night! See you all Monday!

Can I Quote You???
Posted by: kelgarneal | August 14, 2007 | 31 Comments |I found this amazing photo that made me think of my summer vacation. I just knew I needed to share it with you. This little guy’s face says it all, but I want to know, if this seal could talk, what would it be saying? Give me a good quote by Sept. 1st, and the best quoter will win two treasure chests for his/her team (if you are reading this before school starts, it will make sense later). Good luck and happy quoting!

Why don’t we blog this summer? I am getting ready to leave on vacation this Sunday and would love to have you all follow me on my trip. So, if you are out there, send me your thoughts. What are you up to? How is summer going? What are you doing to pass the time? Hope to hear from you all soon!

Freaky Friday and other nonsense
Posted by: kelgarneal | February 22, 2007 | 6 Comments |Well, after reading your posts, I thought we should go ahead and blog about upcoming events. So next week is spirit week and it is for a good cause. We are having pirate pride day, hat day, sunglasses day, pj’s, and our class choice, Freaky Friday. I think that will be the best day of the week. What I want to know is what do you think will be your favorite day and why? Also, what do you plan to wear on Freaky Friday? Who is going to be the most outragious? Let’s have fun with this. Signing off and going home,
Mrs. N
