Long time, no post…

Posted by: kelgarneal | February 19, 2007 | 4 Comments |

Ok, so it has been a long time since we have blogged.  That is my fault, but let’s get back to it.  I want to hear about your writing.  Where in time did you send the adventure club kids?  What are you researching and how is it coming?  Do you need some writing ideas from your classmates for a choice piece?  Let’s get talking and sharing with each other.  And let me know how I can help you!  I am so proud of all of you and how far you have come with your writing this year.  Keep up the good work!

Historical Fiction Book Recommendations

Posted by: kelgarneal | October 12, 2006 | 11 Comments |

Wow! I can’t believe what a great job you all did on your first blog! With all the responses, I can tell this is going to be one of our class favorites. Please remember, that when you are posting a book recommendation, to include the title, author, and genre. That way, when other kids read your recommendations, they can go right to the library and check it out.

Second Quarter is only a week away, and it is already time to start thinking about our next genres. We will be reading Realistic Fiction and Historical Fiction. Historical Fiction is a story with real and invented characters that takes place during a historical time. If you have an historical fiction book that you are just dying to share with us, please post a book recommendation below. It doesn’t matter if you read the book yesterday, last month, or last year. Just share your thoughts and let us time travel with you! Happy reading!

Sci Fi/Autobiography Book Review

Posted by: kelgarneal | October 3, 2006 | 22 Comments |

This quarter, as a class, we are reading books from the autobiography and science fiction genres. An autobiography is a true story or memoir written by the author about him/herself. Science Fiction books are stories that often tell about science and technology of the future, involve partially true fiction laws or theories of science, and they take place in either the future, in space, on a different world, or in a different universe or dimension.

Now that you have finished reading your chosen text, please take time to share with others about your book. Which genre is your book? What is the title and who is the author? Give a short review of the book (main highlights), and tell us why you liked or disliked the book. Support your answers with details from the text. Maybe someone else out in cyberspace will enjoy your recommendation enough to want to read the book, too!
